How to find the best EMF inspector in Toronto and area. What makes them the best qualified?

Finding the Best EMF Inspector

towerwavesgraphic

EMF home inspectors are not all the same. In this unregulated industry, you will do well to have a checklist of what to look for in an EMF professional.

Whether you need a pre-purchase home tested or have concerns about your existing home, here are the things to look for in your inspector:

  1. Accurate EMF meters: meters should measure for all 4 types of harmful EMF, and be calibrated.
  2. Who to Trust on What is Safe or Not? The inspector should tell you which authority(ies) they trust for the best safety guidelines. Note, the Canadian or US government do not have the best research.
  3. Are They Going to Try to Force You to Buy Filters? Some inspectors will not come to your home unless you commit to buying filters in advance. We don’t think that’s right. You should have a choice.
  4. Personal Style: Is the personal style of the inspector friendly, empathetic, helpful? Do they seem like they have extremist or balanced views on the topic and wireless lifestyle choices?
  5. On-the-Spot Assessment: Are they willing to give you the verdict on “safe or not” at the time of inspection or do you have to wait for their report?
  6. Remediation Advice: What types of solutions do they have available, should your home have some issues? There should usually (but not always) be quite a few options. Sometimes it takes creativity to apply scientific solutions!
  7. Prompt Written Report: Can they promise to supply you with a comprehensive written report within a reasonable period of time (24 to 48 hours is reasonable).
  8. Will They Allow Follow Up Calls and Emails if You Have Questions? This is a must and a proper courtesy.

Using EMF meters to measure EMF levels in your home or office

Which EMF meter?

As EMF inspectors, we get a lot of questions about which meters people should buy to test their home or office. Unfortunately, there are no affordable consumer meters that are accurate enough to give you a useful reading. RFMeterThe best solution is simply to have a professional inspector come to you and do the measurements with professional meters that are calibrated and certified to be accurate. We’ve spent thousands of dollars on our meters and we’re happy to come to your place of residence or work to perform the testing. You’ll benefit by 100% accurate readings. Even that $150 model a lot of people buy from Amazon only covers one of the 3 EMF types you need to test, and in the higher ranges, it is often as much as 80% off in accuracy!

Here are a few additional things to think about when contemplating doing your own measurements:

  1. How to use the meter. They need to be held a certain way, and depending on the type, may need to be pointed in different directions. Then with several readings per location, what do you do with the numbers? Average them? Use the highest number?
  2. What do the numbers mean? They have to be compared with authoritative guidelines by trusted authorities. Which authorities do you trust? The Canadian or US government? No. Think again. Canada has outdated guidelines and the US has no guidelines at all. You have to go elsewhere for the best information.
  3. What are the remediation options? It’s a jungle of products out there. Which ones are effective?

In contrast, by working with a professional EMF inspector, you get:

  • Top of the line accurate EMF meters
  • The meters will be used properly
  • The results will be compared to the best guidelines
  • The benefit of years of experience with the most effective remediation options, such as filters, shielding, etc.

Notes:

You need at least 3 meters to do a proper job. The minimum cost for 3 useful meters would work out like this: 1 meter for magnetic and electric fields (5 hertz to 100,000 hertz) $500.00; 1 meter for radio frequencies with an extended frequency range of 200 MHz to 8.0 GHz minimum $480.00; 1 power line frequency tester $140.  Total: $1,120.00Prices in Canadian funds. These are very good meters. We’ll likely call upon even better ones, and have several additional meters available, should the situation warrant them.

Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Testing for your home, pre-purchase, or workplace. Toronto and GTA inspectors.

We perform EMF measurements, home or office testing and assessments for a wide range of customers, both residential and commercial.

meter_generic2There is growing proof that exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) cause health problems. The human brain, blood, and breast are the most succeptible to sickness due to harmful EMF radiation.

We do EMF related testing and measurement in the Toronto and Greater Toronto area (GTA). We also schedule appointments farther afield, including Southwestern Ontario and Northern Ontario. UPDATE: We can now make arrangements right across Canada.

Be sure you know the levels of EMF radiation in your existing home, a home you’re planning to purchase, or in your workplace.

We also offer protection from exposure to high frequency, electrical and magnetic fields by various means of mitigation, including Stetzerizer filters. Two additional areas of concern are cellular and wireless (WiFi). During our visit to your site, we conduct a mini-education session on the whole topic of EMF and on the safest ways to use mobile technologies.

Following are some of the ways your home or office may be gradually making you sick:

  • proximity to high voltage power lines
  • proximity to cell phone towers
  • household wiring and poor grounding
  • appliances
  • lamps and clock radios
  • lighting
  • cordless phones
  • Wi-Fi
  • cellular phones
  • dimmer switches
  • computers
  • home entertainment systems and TV

The following process of EMF Home Inspection covers all of the above and more.

We measure for:

  1. Harmful magnetic frequencies
  2. Harmful electrical frequencies
  3. Harmful radio frequencies

Testing for EMF radiation before you purchase a new home or for your existing home. What you need to know.

Trifield EMF Meter
Trifield EMF Meter

In order to properly test for  electromagnetic fields (EMFs), you need a test meter to do the job. Actually, you need 2 or 3 of them. There are three types of EMF you need to measure:

Magnetic fields

This type of radiation is the one that’s linked to serious health effects most often. For example the connection that research has shown between power lines and childhood leukemia. Magnetic fields radiate from power lines, building wiring, lights, appliances — that is, things that are powered by electricity. For this, we measure in units called milligauss (mG). Our meter of choice for this type of EMF is the Trifield Meter Model 100XE. It is a proven leader for magnetic field testing. It is extremely sensitive and accurate. It measures down to 0.2 mG. Note: you want to see below 2 mG and ideally below 1 mG to avoid health problems. 0.5 and below are even better.

Electric fields

These are responsible for the other half of the electro-magnetic equation and also radiate from power lines, wiring, lights, appliances, etc. Electric fields can also affect optimal health in humans and animals. We measure them in units of volts (V), or volts per meter (V/M). For this type of EMF, we use the ESI 24 EMF meter, made in Germany. It tests for all 3 types of EMF fields, so we use it to corroborate our other meters’ readings, and rely on it heavily for the electric and RF readings.

A note about electrosmog: also known as electrical pollution or dirty electricity, we use the STETZERiZER® Microsurge Meter by Graham-Stetzer, which is designed to separate the power line frequency to detect and respond to low level high frequency voltages caused by transients and harmonics on power lines. This meter is plugged into wall outlets one by one to determine where dirty electricity exists. STETZERiZER® filters are installed in the outlets with the highest readings.

Radio frequency

“RF” for short, these are also referred to as High frequency. This includes microwaves coming from cell towers, cellular phones, microwave ovens,  TV, radio towers, cordless phones, WiFi, and electronic devices. RF is usually measured in units of microwatts per centimeter squared (μW/cm²).  For this type of EMF, we use the ESI 24 EMF meter.

What We Do

We can come to your home or office to do an EMF inspection. We use each of the meters described above when we test for harmful EMF fields. We can also rent these meters to you for subsequent needs. Studies are emerging that indicate EMF-caused damage to human tissue, cellular structure and the nervous system. We’re here to help you measure, identify and reduce the potential harms of electromagnetic fields.

We sell and install Stetzer filters and do EMF home inspections in Toronto Ontario and surrounding area.
